Japanese Cinema

eijibookI’ve been fortunate enough to have lived in Japan for two years.

During that time I watched many movies, I am not talking about the classics like the Kurosawa’s and such, I’m talking about going to the local rental video store and start picking movies without knowing anything about them. Just judging by the cover.

Find out some of my favourites after the jump.

Samurai Fiction

I’m sure Tarantino liked this movie as well.

Ichi the Killer

Incredibly funny, irreverent and gory. Don’t watch if you’re easily affected by gore.

Waterboys

The closest thing to a Ranma 1/2 feature movie we will ever get

Quill

Don’t watch it if -like me- you easily cry with the life cycle of a dog

Electric Dragon 80.000v

A really, really, really different superhero movie. Only Japan…

A Snake of June

The most disturbing movie I have ever seen. It will stay with your for a long time. Don’t watch it alone on a rainy night, if you’re human.
